May 2010
Painting for my October solo show, which by now you all know about! Hint...large-scale paintings of vintage ladies hats! Sound stage? Ok yes, it may. Yet, I have a passion for ladies hats and the impact they have had on our culture during the 20th century. You can purchase a painting or the hat itself (if still available). I have secured hats from friends, friends aunts, great aunts, mothers, step mothers, great grandmothers, and more. Either way, these are vintage hats from the 20th Century standing on their own as art. Large to small, including hat pins, hat pin holders parodies of hats, oh my, just some fun in addition to your collection whether bridal, corporate hair beauty salon collections and more.

Accepted as a member of the Oil Painters of America (OPA)

Coming in 2007
New Collection on the Way. One of my recent passions has been to capture lavendar and sunflowers for one show. The two colors compliment one another as do the flowers themselves. From the old to new, figures in the fields to the pure landscape, this show will surely captivate those who love both flowers as well as colors. There will be paintings large and small to choose from.

Integrated among these will be large pieces from my time spent in Giverny...home to Monet's garden along with scenes of the East Coast countryside and architecture. So much to paint...so little time.

Also in April, I've once again been invited to participate in a private painting event at Disney's Epcot Center in Florida. Stay tuned for dates and times. The event has been so popular that it's been extended into three days of painting! Join me and 15 other colleague master painters (primarily from Florida) for this momentus occasion for the public.

November through December
New For the Holidays! Beautiful 2007 oversized seasonal and themed monthly wall calendars by Diane! Something for everyone. Choose a single season for all year round, Monet's garden paintings or sailing. Also, inexpensive year-at-a-glance calendars.

Diane recently attended two group shows in her representative galleries. One holiday show at The Little Gallery at Smith Mountain Lake on December 2nd., and on December 3d at The Collectors Gallery in Raleigh. It was wonderful to see collectors as well as new folks interested in my work - you are all precious to me. I love speaking to you as well as new people interested in my work. Call (919.460.0630 Studio) or write (email: info@ldianejohnson.com) any time you have an inquiry or question about your paintings or new ones on display. I have exceptional representatatives who are willing to share info from me openly with you.

September through October
On September 21, I joined forces with one of the top galleries in Raleigh, North Carolina. It has been in business for a great many years - I am so pleased to be represented by The Collector's Gallery, at 323 Blake Street, in the heart of the city's art center. Visit them via the Web or better yet, in person. Their offerings are broad for any collector's taste.

On the heels of being awarded in a very special Maryland Paint Out [see August's news below], I traveled to Niagara, Ontario for the third annual Worldwide Plein Air Paint Out on September 8-9. Although the event can take place anywhere painters reside on our planet, this year I attended the main event at headquarters. I was honored to receive the Founder's Award for paintings done at the event Crystal Mist and Playing in the Mist.

Looking forward...October is the last big month of my traveling in 06. First, my workshop at Willow Wisp Farm studio, followed by a wonderful event October 26-29. Twenty-five plein-air painters have been invited to participate in the Nature of Art - High Springs Paint Out, of which I am pleased to be a part. If you are in High Springs, Florida area I encourage you to come see some of the top painters today create artworks over four days. Need more info? Click here.

The First Annual Havre de Grace Plein-Air Painting Competition event yielded an Award of Merit for the painting, The Lockhouse, an American historic site in Havre de Grace, MD. Several painters were invited to paint this area of endless beauty and history from August 16 through 20th.

Much work has gone into my painting archive. Whether you are one of my collectors or a painter, you can view hundreds of my paintings from 1987 through today: of pastel, oil and acrylic landscapes, still life and portrait paintings. There are many more yet to be add going back to 1981, so visit frequently to see artwork most people have never seen before! This arena is also meant to give you many more samples of my style and growth as a painter.

June & July

July ushers in my newest representative in South Carolina in the prestigious Columbia area. Lexington is home to The Wired Bean, the area's most popular coffee and lunchtime shop. It's been many a year since I offered works through such a venue. However, this is a high-end location and will be my exclusive representative in South Carolina! I've had avid collectors in SC for years, but now my work will be available locally. Visit if you are in the area to see paintings in person and shop at your leisure.

I launched my personal painting Weblog after years of creating sites for corporate America and teaching art to painters. Here you'll see first-hand paintings as they are created (even some in progress) before being posted here for sale on my official gallery site.

Lastly, while not part of the major Plein Air Easton (Maryland) event, I did participate in the Quick Draw event. If you've never attended this spectacular collector event, don't miss it next July!

April & May
I have been invited to paint at the famous Epcot Center in Walt Disney World, Olrando, FL., May 6-7. If you'll be visiting there you'll find me and nineteen other painters among the European gardens!

I have been online since 1995, however, my painting business dates back to 1981. There is much more to tell and share. Whether you are a collector or artist I hope you will continue to follow me as I travel or paint in the studio bringing works to individuals and the world. Thanks for your support and encouragement!
