Chocolates

Part of the 20th Century Vintage Ladies "HATS" Collection.

This piece was on my mind for months. When I collected all the hats for this series I noticed so many of them were in the brown color family. Indeed, I had so many browns there is no way I could paint them all individually! Then the bells rang in my head..."Chocolate," I thought! Of course! So I created a play on a box of chocolates from light "white" chocolate to dark-dark colored ones. This piece was so much fun to create. Painted live in my studio from the real vintage hats and a large model of the box. The canvas is extra deep so the sides emulate the gold wrapper on a standard candy box. Enjoy!
